ST GEORGE & THE DRAGON

£0.00

Free and suitable for all ages.
Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre locations,
19-28 April – full schedule below.

Description

Our Spring 2019 play; St George & The Dragon will retell the original tale but consider how the story has come to be so popular; who was St George? What is his legacy today? To what extent have our feelings about nationalism changed over the last few years?  At it’s heart though, is a simple tale of knights, fair maidens and a puppet dragon.

It will be a 20-30 minute performance, with 9 participants, using all the techniques of street theatre and traditional mummers-style plays. This piece is FREE for all to attend.

The show is a piece of the street theatre so there are no seats available in most locations but the whole thing lasts no more than 30-minutes and is suitable for families with children of all ages.

Th’ESP’s is a supportive environment for emerging and mid-career performers to come together and use acting, movement, masks, puppetry, script work and games to get involved, contribute ideas, and (most importantly) have fun. We aim to perform professional quality performances which are created in response to stories and histories which are from or relevant to Blackpool & The Fylde coast communities. Each show we produce is specially designed to be interactive, immersive and take place in unexpected places.

We are a not-for-profit company. Th’ESP’s has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund, we are grateful for their support and that of the creative community in Blackpool for their contributions to this project.
