The Electric Sunshine Project cic (TESP) is a not-for-profit organisation set up in July 2016 to provide high quality participatory arts experiences for those living in Blackpool. Each year our work grows and the diversity of people who connect with us widens. Every day we hear positive feedback from our participants and see the impact our work has on helping to build stronger, more resilient and creative communities in the town.
“Over my life I’ve been involved with many projects but TESP stands supreme as being the most enjoyable and happiest one I’ve ever worked on. A heartwarming, enriching and beneficial time full of genuine goodwill, enthusiasm and good vibes. From beginning to end, it was pure unbridled joy – I feel extremely proud of myself and my colleagues for the great work we produced.”
“I just want to say a big thank you for all the help, love and support that you and TESP have given me over the years. Many thanks for the feedback, theatre trips, opportunities to express myself, support and guidance and creating a lovely safe-space for myself and others to work/play in. What I’m most thankful for though is when I was struggling to come to terms with my depression; I was very alone and anxious – you always made me feel welcome, you were very cool and non-judgmental.”
“I have been living in Blackpool for 12-years and in all that time, haven’t formed any real social connections or done anything really, due to my mental health issues. This has been life-changing for me – for the first time I’ve met lovely like-minded people who I can meet up with, chat on social media with and have genuine fun with”
“I’d been in the area for over a year and was in a really dark place with no job or social life, I made the leap to go along to TESP and everything’s changed – I’m convinced getting my new job was as a result of going along to this, mainly because of my confidence levels but also it’s what employers are looking for isn’t it – that something extra.”
“My involvement with TESP has unpicked and freed my soul. They allow you a voice; you’re suddenly a someone. It’s unfamiliar and I reverted to old coping mechanisms ‘make people laugh – they will like you’ I would say to myself. But TESP dig deeper than that and reveal I’m loved without the silliness. ME as a damaged human can tap into THAT. TESP is a positive charge for society.”
