Description

A pilot project aimed at families with children aged 5+ and those adults without children who are interested in exploring how we can recycle waste materials to build something big, bold and beautiful.

These regular weekly sessions are aimed at people of all ages, abilities and experience-levels. All children must be well-supervised at all times and be able to take part in the arts-activities.

Each week the group will learn new art and making skills to work together to create some larger items  as well as some smaller individual pieces, all of which may light up and form a spectacle for a parade. We will aim to use a variety of materials including those that have been collected from our local beaches to hi-light the importance of the environmental crisis and to encourage people to protect our beaches and oceans from our rubbish.

This is a 6-week project which is FREE to attend; there are 30 places available in the group.

The project has been supported by Revoe-lution, will take place at their new Community Centre and priority for places will be given to those living in the Revoe area; we therefore recommend you register your interest ASAP as places for those outside of Revoe will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis. (Use the “Add to Cart” button above)

We hope to be able to share of our work at the end of the project to the wider community as part of a parade or festival or possibly as part of Blackpool’s Lightpool activity – TBC….

Professional artist and new TESP Associate Practitioner Janine Walker will lead this project. Janine has a fine arts degree and 20-years of experience working within community settings. She has undertaken activity with festival big-hitters Walk the Plank, Global Grooves and Handmade Parade and has been a regular Spare Parts Participatory Artist at Festivals in Fleetwood and Oldham.
